In Depth
Not a lot is known about Zby, other than it was a eusauropod dinosaur that seems to have featured similarities with the genus Turiasaurus from Spain, which may also be the largest sauropod dinosaur known from Europe. Zby might sound like a strange name for an animal, but this dinosaur was actually named in honour of Georges Zbyszewski who is noted for his work in the fields of palaeontology and geology.
Other sauropods from the same formation as Zby include Lourinhasaurus, Lusotitan and Dinheirosaurus. Other kinds of dinosaurs include the armoured Dracopelta, stegosaurs such as Stegosaurus, Dacentrurus and Miragaia, as well as predatory theropods such as Torvosaurus, Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus and Lourinhanosaurus.
