Zhongjianosaurus
was a very small genus of
microraptoran dromaeosaurid
dinosaur, no bigger than many of
today’s birds. Zhongjianosaurus is simply one
of a growing number
of dromaeosaurid dinosaurs known to have existed in the same location
and approximate time as one another. These discoveries have led to
further study to the Yixian Formation where their fossils were found,
revealing that the dinosaurs in this part of the world were living in
a densely forested area. In the case of Zhongjianosaurus
the small
size of this dinosaur points to a potentially arboreal (tree
dwelling) lifestyle, possibly with the ability to glide from one
tree to the next.
