       Palaeoherpeton was originally named as Palaeogyrinus in‭ ‬1926,‭ ‬but was renamed as Palaeoherpeton in‭ ‬1970.‭ ‬Palaeoherpeton was a medium sized predator that would have hunted in the Carboniferous coal swamps of Scotland.
