In Depth
Huangshanlong is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived in China during the mid Jurassic. Unfortunately, because only a couple of forelimb bones have been used to describe the genus, not much can be said about this dinosaur. The describers were of the opinion that Huangshanlong repesented a mamenchisaurid sauropod, a type of sauropod that would have had a proportionately long neck (even by sauropod standards), and a type which was also quite common in China at this stage in the Jurassic.
Huangshanlong is is the second dinosaur genus discovered to have once lived in what is now Anhui Province, the first being the pachycephalosaur Wannanosaurus in 1977.
